Originally from Poland, Alicja Hoppel graduated from the National Ballet School in Poznan and went on to earn a Bachelor Diploma in Movement Studies at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds (UK). Since 2012, Hoppel has been based in Germany, where she won a full-time directing course at the Met Film School Berlin. She is a founder of Unemployment Productions and since 2015 has been a member of the Berlin Film Collective. Hoppel freelances as a filmmaker and photographer documenting live performance and editing promotional materials, and has directed several short dance films that have screened at international festivals across Europe. She regularly collaborates with Berlin-based Company HAA and has documented projects by the performance/activist group Anonyme Anwohnende, among others. Most recently Hoppel joined the editing team for B12 Festival 2020. She has been collaborating with MeenMoves since 2015.
