Hala is a dancer, actor, writer, and Gyrotonic trainer. She is thrilled to be performing with MeenMoves this season! Hala also performs with Jonah Bokaer Choreography, Ping Chong + Company, and Elisa Schreiber Peterson. With Ping Chong + Company, she collaborated in the creation of the new docu- dance theater work “Calling: a dance with faith,” directed by Jesca Prudencio, and is a teaching artist working in public schools through the company’s “Secret Histories” residencies. Hala also co-choreographed “NOHING: a docu-dance on sexual assault” with Prudencio through Performance Project at University Settlement. She recently joined playwright Zizi Azah and director Nana Dakin in the workshop production of “I Know I Would,” presented by Strong & Wrong Theater. She has also enjoyed performing in productions of “From The Horse’s Mouth” – honoring writer Deborah Jowitt and Egyptian ballet dancer Magda Saleh. Hala holds a BA in journalism and Middle Eastern studies from NYU, and a MFA in Dance from NYU/Tisch School of the Arts. She is also a freelance writer for Dance Magazine and Dance Teacher magazine.
